Challenge in Web application programming
A web application programming challenge is being organized within Open Source Meets Business by the Free University of Berlin, the Linux Business Campus Nuremberg (LBCN) and Heise magazine iX. The goal is a practical comparison of competing web devolopment platforms:
- Java EE
- .NET
- Perl
- PHP
- Python
- Ruby on Rails
During the congress in Nuremberg on 25. and 26. January, 2007, Teams of three developers each are facing identical challenges: to build a realistic web application within 30 hours.
For each platform, up to three teams can participate
The resulting 18 solutions will be academically evaluated and compared along a host of criteria particulary important for real-life use: useability, functionality, reliability, performance, internal structure, support readiness, comprehensibleness, and flexibility.
The results will be documented in detail and presented during a press conference.
