Ralf Allrutz (Science + Computing AG)
Ralf Allrutz, Jahrgang 1959, studierte Physik an der Universität Stuttgart und promovierte im Lehr- und Forschungsbereich Theoretische Astrophysik an der Universität Tübingen mit einem Thema aus der angewandten Informatik. 1989 gründete er die Science + Computing AG, wo er seither Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung ist. Seine Interessen gelten vor allem der Vernetzung und dem Zusammenspiel von Rechnern verschiedener Hersteller mit allen Aspekten – von der Bedienbarkeit durch Benutzer und Administratoren über die Anwendungsintegration bis hin zur Sicherheit. Schon seit Studienzeiten setzt er dabei auch Open-Source-Software ein, die bei Science + Computing Bestandteil des Service-, Software- und Lösungs-Portfolios ist. Nach eingehenden Erfahrungen im IT-Service leitete Ralf Allrutz bis Anfang 2002 die Entwicklung der System-Administrations-Software „SC Venus“. Danach war er zuständig für Business Development und leitete in diesem Rahmen verschiedene Projekte und Studien. Seit 2004 verantwortet er auch das Marketing von Science + Computing. Als Mitglied des Leitungsgremiums der Fachgruppe APS+PC (Arbeitsplatzrechner und Personal Computer) der Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI) und der Informationstechnischen Gesellschaft (ITG) beschäftigt er sich mit aktuellen Fragestellungen zum Thema Arbeitsplatz-Rechensysteme. Seit 2006 engagiert er sich auch im Vorstand des Linux-Verbands.
Ralf Allrutz, born 1959, studied physics at the University of Stuttgart and graduated with a thesis in the field of Applied Computer Science in the Astrophysics department of the University of Tuebingen. In 1989 he founded Science + Computing AG and has since been a member of the executive team. His professional work is focused on networked multivendor computer environments under all aspects – from usability and manageability over application integration to security. Ever since his academic work, he has been using Open Source Software, which is now a part of the software and solutions portfolio of Science + Computing AG. After gathering in-depth experience in IT services, Ralf Allrutz started developing the system administration software “SC Venus”. After that, he was responsible for business development and headed several projects and studies in this function. Since 2004 he has also been responsible for marketing of Science + Computing AG. As a member of the leading council of the specialist group APS + PC (Desktop and Personal Computers) of the GI (Gesellschaft für Informatik/Computer Science Society of Germany) and and of ITG (Informationstechnische Gesellschaft/Information Technology Society) he is dealing with prevailing questions regarding workplace computing systems. Since 2006, he sits on the board of the Linux Verband, too.
Stefan Backes (Novell)
Stefan Backes (Jahrgang 1967) ist seit Februar 2007 Area Marketing Director Central Europe bei Novell. In dieser Rolle verantwortet er die Marketingaktivitäten in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. Stefan Backes hat Informatik an der Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken studiert. Er begann seine Laufbahn 1990 bei Dacos Software als Technical Consultant. 1994 ging er als Entwickler zu SAP AG in Walldorf und wechselte dort 1998 in den Bereich Marketing. Zunächst war er als Marketing Manager für verschiedene Branchen, sowohl im direkten als auch im indirekten Vertrieb, zuständig. Anschließend betreute er die Markteinführung von Mysap.com, bevor er als Director Live Communication für alle Veranstaltungen von SAP in Deutschland verantwortlich zeichnete, unter anderem für den CeBIT Auftritt von SAP. 2003 übernahm Stefan Backes das Solution Marketing in Deutschland. Als Director Industry and Solution Marketing leitete er zuletzt das Marketing Team in Zentraleuropa.
Stefan Backes (born 1967) holds the position of Area Marketing Director for Central Europe at Novell since February 2007. In this role he is responsible for Novell's marketing activities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Stefan Backes studied Computer Science at Saarland University in Saarbrücken. He started his career in 1990, working as a Technical Consultant at Dacos Software. In 1994 he moved to SAP AG in Walldorf. Initially he worked as a software developer but switched to the Marketing department in 1998. He started as Marketing Manager for various sectors in both direct and indirect sales, and then went on to supervise the launch of Mysap.com before becoming Director of Live Communication. In this role he was responsible for all SAP events in Germany, including the SAP participation at CeBIT. In 2003 Stefan Backes was placed in charge of Solution Marketing in Germany. His last position at the company was Director of Industry and Solution Marketing, in charge of the Central Europe Marketing Team.
Oliver Diedrich (heise open)
Dr. Oliver Diedrich, geboren 1963, arbeitet als Redakteur bei der Zeitschrift c't, wo er für Linux, Open Source und verwandte Themen zuständig ist. Außerdem leitet er als Chefredakteur den Online-Channel "heise open". Den Aufstieg von Linux vom Hackerspielzeug zur Plattform für geschäftskritische Anwendungen und den Weg von Open-Source-Lösungen aus der Bastlerecke in die Rechenzentren beobachtet er seit 1998. Vor seiner Tätigkeit beim Heise Zeitschriften Verlag erforschte er die neurophysiologischen Grundlagen von Emotionen.
Born in 1963, Dr. Oliver Diedrich is an editor at c't magazine, where he is responsible for Linux, Open Source and related issues. He is also editor-in-chief of the online channel "heise open". Since 1998, he has been monitoring the rise of Linux from a hacker's toy to a platform for mission-critical applications and the evolution of Open Source solutions from the sandbox into data centers. Before he began working at Heise Zeitschriften Verlag, he was a researcher in the neurophysiologic foundations of emotions.
Eduard Heilmayr (Heise Zeitschriften Verlag)
Nach achtjähriger Chefredakteurstätigkeit bei Markt & Technik, der Wochenzeitung für Elektronik, wechselte Dipl. Ing. (FH) Eduard Heilmayr (Jahrgang 1954) in das Verlagsmanagement des gleichnamigen Unternehmens. 1992 gründete er den IT- und Elektronikfachverlag AWi Aktuelles Wissen Verlagsgesellschaft mbH in Grasbrunn bei München. Nach dem Verkauf des AWi-Verlags an die Konradin Verlagsgruppe im Frühjahr 2004 wechselte Eduard Heilmayr zum Heise Verlag zuerst als Berater, dann als Leiter Heise Events.
After eight years as the editor of Markt & Technik, a weekly newspaper for electronics, engineer Eduard Heilmayr (born in 1954) joined the same company's management team. In 1992, he founded the IT and electronics publishing firm AWi Aktuelles Wissen Verlagsgesellschaft mbH in Grasbrunn near München. After the AWi Verlag was sold to the Konradin Publishing Group in the spring of 2004, he founded the consulting firm Delphin Consult. For Heise Verlag, he is the project director of "Open Source Meets Business" and the Manager for Heise Events.
Johannes Loxen (SerNet)
Dr. Johannes Loxen, geboren 1965, ist geschäftsführender Gesellschafter der SerNet GmbH, die mit Standorten in Göttingen, Berlin und Nürnberg seit über 10 Jahren Dienstleistungen im Bereich Datensicherheit und Datenschutz weltweit anbietet. SerNet ist Marktführerin in Sachen SAMBA, der wichtigsten freien Alternative zu Windows-Servern von Microsoft. Nach Studium und Promotion gründete er 1997 die SerNet. Aus einem Projekt im Bereich Embedded-Linux gründete er im Jahr 1999 die emlix GmbH. Aktuell ist Johannes Loxen zudem Mitglied im Vorstand des Göttinger Zentrum für Informatik sowie im Advisory Board der Centeris Corporation (Seattle), Handelsrichter am Landgericht Göttingen und Aufsichtsrat der DENIC, der deutschen Domain-Registry.
Dr. Johannes Loxen, born 1965, is managing director and CEO of SerNet GmbH, offering services for data security and data protection to customers worldwide with offices in Göttingen, Berlin and Nuremberg. SerNet is the leading service provider regarding SAMBA, the most important free software alternative to Windows servers from Microsoft. After his university career Johannes Loxen founded SerNet in 1997 and three years later emlix GmbH induced by an Embedded Linux project at SerNet. Johannes Loxen currently acts as a board member at Center for Informatics (University of Goettingen), advisory board member at Centeris Corp. (Seattle), commercial judge at district court Göttingen and supervisory board member at DENIC the German domain registry.
Roland Pfeiffer (Ingres)
Als Vice President und Country Manager für Deutschland, Schweiz und Österreich verantwortet Roland Pfeiffer seit Anfang 2006 den Aufbau und das operative Geschäft von Ingres. Davor war er bei CA Computer Associates GmbH in Deutschland als Teil der Führungsmannschaft für die Geschäftsfelder Datenbanken und Entwicklungsumgebungen, Portal und Business Intelligence sowie Modellierung und Life Cycle Managment verantwortlich.
Als Senior Technical Consultant bei der Technical Advocate Group EMEA zeichnete Pfeiffer vor seiner Zeit bei CA für die Betreuung ausgesuchter Großkunden in Europa verantwortlich.
Since early 2006, Mr. Pfeiffer has been serving as Vice President and Country Manager for Germany, Switzerland and Austria with responsibility for the development and field operations of Ingres in these countries.
Before joining Ingres, Mr. Pfeiffer was a member of Computer Associates GmbH’s corporate management, in charge of brand-related activities for data bases and development environments, Portal and Business Intelligence, and modelling and life-cycle management. Prior to this, he worked as Senior Technical Consultant for the Technical Advocate Group EMEA with responsibility for select major EMEA accounts.
Heinrich Seeger (Heise Events)
Heinrich Seeger befasst sich seit 1989 journalistisch mit wirtschaftlichen und strategischen Aspekten der Informationstechnik. Unter anderem entwickelte und leitete er das Monatsmagazin CIO. Seit Oktober 2003 arbeitet er freiberuflich als Journalist und Medienberater. Für den Heise Zeitschriften Verlag ist er seit 2005 als Redaktioneller Programmleiter im Bereich Events tätig, der sich den Informationsbedürfnissen von IT-Entscheidern widmet.
Heinrich Seeger has been covering the economic and strategic aspects of information technology as a journalist since 1989. Among other activities, he developed and managed the monthly magazine CIO. Since October 2003, he has been freelancing as journalist, event designer and media consultant. For Heise Magazine Publishing he has been working since 2005 as Managing Editor for the Events division, which serves the information needs of IT decision-makers.
Richard Seibt (Chairman)
Dipl.-Kfm. Richard Seibt, Jahrgang 1952, verfügt über eine 29-jährige internationale Berufserfahrung in der IT-Industrie. Nach seinem beruflichen Einstieg im Vertrieb bei IBM in Stuttgart folgten leitende Positionen in den Bereichen Business Development, Sales und Marketing, erst im Inland, später auch im europäischen Ausland. Als Geschäftsführer IBM Deutschland war er für Vertrieb und Marketing der IBM-Softwareprodukte erst für Deutschland, Österreich und Schweiz, später als Vice President auch für Nordamerika zuständig. Zuletzt verantwortete er bei IBM das gesamte Geschäft für das Betriebssystem OS/2 als General Manager. Ab 1998 war Richard Seibt als Vorstandsmitglied bei der United Internet AG tätig. Ab Januar 2003 leitete er als CEO und Vorstandsvorsitzender die Suse Linux AG und wurde im Februar 2004 wurde als President bei Novell für die Region EMEA. Seit seinem Ausscheiden im Mai 2005 widmet er sich nun ausgewählten Linux- und Open-Source-Projekten. Im August 2005 übernahm Richard Seibt die Funktion des "Chairman" der Open Source Konferenz "Open Source Meets Business" des Heise Zeitschriften Verlages.
Born in 1952, Richard Seibt has a degree in commerce and 29 years of international business experience in the IT industry. He began his professional career in sales at IBM in Stuttgart, followed by management positions in the fields of Business Development, Sales and Marketing first in Germany and later in other European countries. As the Managing Director at IBM Deutschland, he handled sales and marketing for IBM software products in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland; later, he was also responsible for North America as Vice-President. Most recently, as General Manager OS/2 at IBM he was responsible for the operating system OS/2. In 1998, Richard Seibt became a board member at United Internet AG. In January at 2003, he became the CEO and chairman of the board of SUSE LINUX AG. In February of 2004, he was appointed President of Novell EMEA. Since he left in May of 2005, he has been focusing on a select group of Linux and Open Source projects. In August of 2005, he served as chairman of the Open Source conference "Open Source Meets Business" organized by Heise Zeitschriften Verlag.
Thomas Siekmann (CIO Circle)
Thomas Siekmann ist CIO der Channel 21 GmbH (früher: RTL Shop GmbH). Nach dem Studium der Techniksoziologie und Systemtheorie in Bielefeld und Tätigkeiten im Bereich Softwareherstellung und Beratung hat er mehrere Jahre im Chief Information Office der Siemens Business Services GmbH gearbeitet. Nach diesem Einblick in ein Großunternehmen hat er als IT-Leiter der Herforder Brauerei auch intensive Erfahrungen mit IT im Mittelstand gesammelt. Sein Augenmerk gilt derzeit den Veränderungen von IT durch Industrialisierung und den Anforderungen an Organisation durch zunehmend komplexe Strukturen der Unternehmen.
Thomas Siekmann is the CIO of Channel 21 GmbH, the former RTL Shop GmbH, a home shopping TV channel in Germany. After getting his degree in the sociology of technology in Bielefeld, he began working in software programming and consulting before joining the Chief Information Office at Siemens Business Services GmbH, where he worked for several years. After this insight into a large enterprise he gathered intense experience in the medium-size enterprise field, too, working as head of IT for Herforder Brauerei, a family-owned brewery. Today he focuses on the industrialisation of IT services and on the requirements for organisations originating from the increasing complexity of enterprises.
Alfred Steinecker (HP)
Alfred Steinecker, Jahrgang 1958, leitet seit Oktober 2005 bei HP Deutschland in der Enterprise Server & Storage Group den Bereich Horizontal Solutions und Marketing. Er verantwortet damit übergreifend die Geschäftsbereiche Open-Source- und Linux- („OSLO“) sowie High Performance Computing (HPC) in Deutschland. Zuvor hatte er seit 2003 bei der Hewlett-Packard GmbH als Business Manager den Bereich Linux verantwortet. Nach seinem Studium der Informatik und Elektrotechnik an der Universität Kaiserslautern war Alfred Steinecker bei der NEC Deutschland GmbH im Bereich Marketing Monitor/Professional Graphics tätig gewesen. Von 1997 bis 2003 verantwortete er dann bei der Compaq Computer GmbH als Business Manager unter anderem die Bereiche Displays, Projectors und I-Appliances sowie Wireless Solutions.
Alfred Steinecker, born 1958, has been heading Horizontal Solutions and Marketing within the Enterprise Server & Storage Group of HP Germany since 2005. Thus, he takes the comprehensive responsibility for the business areas Open Source and Linux (“OSLO”) as well as High Performance Computing (HPC) in Germany. Before that, he accounted for the Linux area as Business Manager at Hewlett Packard GmbH. After studying Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern, Alfred Steinecker had worked in the marketing department of the Monitor/Professional Graphics division of NEC Germany. Between 1997 and 2003 he accounted for, among others, the displays, projectors and I-Appliances division, as well as Wireless Solutions, of the former Compaq Computer GmbH.
Martin Urban (Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe)
Martin Urban, Jahrgang 1965, ist seit 2000 bei der Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) und verantwortet dort als Prokurist die Bereiche Organisation und Informationstechnologie. Der Physiker und MBA hat nach dem Studium in Stuttgart, Berlin und Cambridge (UK) verschiedene Tätigkeiten in den Bereichen IT, Organisation und Finanzen ausgeübt und war zuletzt für die IT der ÖTV zuständig. Seine Schwerpunkte bei der BSR sind die organisatorische und technische Geschäftsprozessoptimierung und damit meist verbundene Weiterentwicklung der integrierten ERP-Landschaft sowie der wettbewerbsfähige Betrieb der IT-Infrastruktur.
Martin Urban, born in 1965, has been responsible for the IT of Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe (BSR), the sanitation department of the German capital, as an authorised signatory since the end of 2000. As a physicist and MBA (Stuttgart, Berlin and Cambridge/UK) he has been working in several positions in the areas of IT, organisation and finance. Most recently, he headed the IT of ÖTV, the former German union of public employees (now incorporated in the Verdi union). The focus of his work at BSR is process optimisation, organisational and technical, the usually related advancement of an integrated ERP landscape, and the competitive operation of the IT infrastructure.
André von Raison (Redaktion iX)
André von Raison, Jahrgang 1960, kam schon während seines Informatikstudiums mit Open-Source-Software in Berührung. Er setzt Linux seit 1993 (auch privat) als Betriebssystem ein und beschäftigt sich seit Anfang 1996 bei der iX hauptsächlich mit freien und kommerziellen PC-Unix-Systemen.
Born in 1960, André von Raison first came into contact with Open Source software during his studies. He has been using Linux and operating system since 1993 (privately as well) and has mainly been covering free and commercial PC Unix systems since the beginning of 1996 for the monthly iX magazine.
Achim Wellmann (Dirk Rossmann GmbH)
Achim Wellmann, Jahrgang 1963, ist seit 1998 für die Drogeriekette Rossmann tätig. Seit 2000 verantwortet er als Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung die IT in Deutschland sowie die Ausrichtung und Umsetzung der IT-Strategie für die Landesgesellschaften in Polen, Tschechien und Ungarn. Nach dem Studium der Wirtschaftsinformatik und des Informationsmanagements in Köln und Konstanz begann er seine berufliche Laufbahn bei der Metro als Datenadministrator mit den Schwerpunkten Warenwirtschaftssystem und Data Warehouse. Danach war er als Methodenberater bei der Versicherungsgruppe Hannover für die Geschäftsprozessanalyse und -optimierung zuständig. Achim Wellmann verfügt insgesamt über eine 20-jährige Berufserfahrung in unterschiedlichen Bereichen der IT.
Born 1963, Achim Wellmann has been working for the chemist shop chain Rossmann since 1998. In 2000, he joined the executive team and took over responsibility for the IT in Germany as well as for developing and implementing Rossmann's IT strategy in the subsidiaries in Poland, Czechia and Hungary. After studying information management in Koeln and Konstanz, he began his professional career at Metro (trading conglomerate) as data admin focusing on ERP and data warehousing. After that, he joined Versicherungsgruppe Hannover (insurance company) where he was concerned with business process analysis and optimisation. In total, Achim Wellmann has more than 20 years of professional experience in different IT segments.
