Abstract
Current Situation: The migration from TDM towards VoIP is already in full process in most Carriers or Corporate entities. NGN-Switches are implemented with Carrier-Class-grade quality, large Carriers are not accepting any new classic TDM interconnections anymore, Corporate entities are exchanging the existing classic PBX infrastructure towards full VoIP solutions – up to a Centrex based solution.
The Problem_ Having “said” this those Carrier’s and Corporate’s are facing one major problem – due to the lack of adjustable QoS Parameters in IPv4 (besides TOS) there is no way in supplying a set of steady thresholds or to guarantee a dedicated bandwidth for a voice connection.
ATCS will be a small, reliable and fast solution in order to supply the user an easy web- webinterface in order to test new suppliers, new destinations and either a manual selection or automatic selection of test-numbers to call. The system will measure the following parameters: - PDD (time to first ring tone) - ASR (answer seizure ratio) - ACD (answer call duration) - MOS (mean opinion score) Therefore the system will ease the test time from several hours to minutes. The current process is mainly manual from technicians actually dialing few selected numbers in order to “guess” the quality without having any proof of the data.
Development: ATCS is based on two open source solution’s: Asterisk and My SQL.
Competiton: The current competition is still mainly based on TDM and just moving to VoIP and quite expensive (starting from 35k-150k) – exisiting VoIP test call systems (starting from 10k) are mainly developed for in-depth tests down to IP-level rather and not Carrier- Class-grade.
