An excellent reference for such jargon can be found in a feature of TBTF (Tasty Bits from the Technology Front), a periodic newsletter of computer and communications technology compiled by Keith Dawson. Called the Jargon Scout, the stated aim of this feature is "to give you advance warning -- preferably before Wired Magazine picks it up -- of jargon that is just about ready to hatch into the Net's language."

The European Commission has repeatedly warned against the "information society" becoming a "two-tier information society" ever since February 1995, when Jacques Santer, then president of the European Commission, underlined the the European Commission's political agenda for the G7 ministerial meeting on the "information society" which was to take place in Brussels on February 25 and 26, 1995.
